| Celebration
of Leeds ‘In Bloom’ groups. |
Thursday 23rd October 2008 was a night to
remember. Seven of our members attended an evening do
at Leeds Civic Hall for all the ‘In Bloom’
groups throughout Leeds. We were all formally greeted
by the Lord Mayor of Leeds. This was followed by a slide
show put together and expertly narrated by Richard Gill
of all the In Bloom group’s entries and results
in this year’s competition. There was even a picture
of one of our welcome stone beds planted up in all its
glory! We were kept entertained by the famous Joe Maiden
from Radio Leeds. He was a very witty and entertaining
speaker and gave us many amusing tips on how to fool the
judges on In Bloom inspection day.
Listen out for his broadcasts on Radio Leeds as Garforth
In Bloom might be getting a mention!

SECOND AUTUMN BULB PLANTING
FOR SPRING COLOUR 2010
On Sunday 15th November 2009, we carried
out our second community bulb planting day, with volunteers
planting bulbs around Garforth hoping to give the town a show
of colour next Spring 2010.
Carrying on from last years sucess
volunteeers gathered for a 9.30am start from the Welfare Hall.
After a couple of hours work most of the bulbs were planted
and everyone made their way back to base. Here bacon sandwiches
along with tea and coffee were the order of the day as a reward
for all our hard work.
