Welcome to Garforth in Bloom.

Town End starts Sunday 18th Sept 2008

The Garforth In Bloom team have taken on their latest project which is to improve the two little
plots of land at Town End near to the traffic lights.

We have two sponsors,
Pease of Garforth and DBL Windows who will provide a cash donation which will hopefully pay for the plants and shrubs.

The plots are to be improved with planted shrubs and seasonal flowers over the coming months.
The progress so far has been made by clearing old roses and weeds from one plot.
Grass is being cleared from the second plot.

Thursday 16th October saw the next stage in the Town End project. On a chilly, windswept but bright morning at 10am precisely, half a dozen intrepid G.I.B. members met to form a new bed which we had previously sprayed with weed killer.

Although it was hard backbreaking work digging the soil over a good team spirit won the day. We even found buried treasure (4p) which of course will go straight into the G.I.B bank account!

After two and a half hours heavy slog, enduring long amused glances from drivers waiting at the traffic lights, we were rewarded with a large professional looking bed which is crying out to be planted up!

Roll on November 9th when we will be planting 400 shrubs shared between the 2 beds.
